So Close

Here we are at 38 weeks! I feel like this little guy is such a small bump with only two or so weeks of growing left to do, but according to the midwives everything is progressing well.

We did have a little fright last week when we found that after weeks of being head down and bum up, our little buddy had decided to spread himself out across my abdomen - transverse! So there was talk of turning him and the possibility of a cesarean, lots of googling on Mr E and my part (this was Tuesday), come Thursday night though, after a great evening with girlfriends, we found thankfully that he had turned himself back to head down! I'm so relieved.  Kookaburra joked that he'd had a headache from being upside down so long. For me the possibility of being bed ridden due to a ceasar was a terrible prospect without even thinking about running my home, caring for our two older boys and meeting their needs and our upcoming move to our new home (I'll get around to posting those update pics soon).

Life in general is plodding along nicely here. Lessons are being achieved well. Kookaburra is devouring novels and Kangaroos reading is progressing pleasingly.

I've started a biology program with them and we're still slowly working our way through Story of the World after losing interest in it for months.

So whilst I'm trying to update my blog, my boys have never forgotten about theirs and are constantly asking me for time to help them update theirs. So that's what my afternoon will be today. Looking for lost passwords and showing them how to upload pics and type up their thoughts.  Maybe you'll click on their link over on the right of your screen and say hello sometime? They would be so thrilled :D!

A Little Update

Thirty Weeks

Thirty-Four Weeks

My how the time has flown! Just six weeks left until full term and we meet our precious new bundle :)

Generally I've been well but recently I've been feeling niggly little pains telling me that bubs and I are nearing the end of our pregnancy. I often feel breathless as well along with overwhelming tiredness.  I did have heartburn at night for a while but found that if I ate my evening meal at midday and didn't eat at night I wouldn't suffer from it. So all in all, I've had it all pretty darn good so far.

The doc's and midwives we've met so far have been lovely.  Bubbykins to the best of our knowledge is growing well and is head down, bottom up already.  The Doctor measured my belly on Tuesday along with the other checks and said he didn't expect this little one to be too big, which I'm so thankful for.  Kookaburra was seven pound and thirteen whilst Kangaroo was six pound twelve and with a six foot six daddy I'm so grateful cause there is definite potential there for some big bubbas.

After our bigger boys births we've learnt to say no to the pethadine - this slowed Kookaburra's heart rate right down. and to try to do without the gas - vomiting straight into Mr E's lap wasn't exactly an endearing moment! This time I plan to move around more and involve my husband more actively - lean on him, let him rub my back, be in the shower with me, anything I feel I need from him, I know more than ever that our babys birth can truly be a more shared experience.

Well, like I said, can hardly believe there are only six weeks left! The way I keep my blog, perhaps the next time I check in will be to introduce our new bundle.  I hope I'll be better than that though!

Lucky Kid!

Last Sunday I noticed a large envelope on the kitchen counter addressed to my inlaws. Striking strange I thought so I asked Mr E if they'd mistakenly left it here.  Turns out the contents were meant for our Kookaburra and what could it be? And whom may they be from?  Well an school friend of Mr E's parents is an author.  A published Australian author who also writes short stories and novels for children and screen plays for various well known Aussie television shows - how wonderful is that! The package contained a  second draft of an unpublished manuscript for our Kookaburra to read and 'see what he thinks'.

Tonight Mr E and Kookaburra were engrossed by the tale.  A bit of laughing and approval from them both means that they should finish it off pretty quick so Kookaburra can reply to the gracious lady with his thoughts.  Hopefully he'll remember to say a wonderful thankyou for such a privileged opportunity :).

A little pregnancy note before I go.  It really was the loveliest thing to sign in to my blog and find your beautiful responses to our happy news.  I truly love and treasure each of them. Thank you :). And I'll try to be good and post about it.  I'm not a journal keeper, although I've definitely tried, so it would be nice to have a little diary recording this wonderful time for me (oh, I think I meant us!).

We're still pinching ourselves but....

I guess when the first test comes back Positive

and then we try another

and another, with all the same lovely double pink lines, we can start to finally get ridiculously excited and look forward to meeting our sweet, new baby in early October.

Eleven

Jumping into bed with Daddy. 'Wake up Dad, it's my birthday!'

I know I should wait till the end of the day but I'm just too excited :).  Our eldest is turning Eleven today!

Dad picked out the birthday presents this year and judging by the looks on Kookaburra's face he was definitely right on the money.  I love knowing our boys so well!  We are so freaking Lucky!

He's been alternately looking forward to his birthday and also wanting to stay little but it seems this morning with his new stereo system turned up, bopping and singing along and getting into his new air-fix with his wonderful array of tools, he seems to have gotten over it ;).

CD player turned up, singing along and building.  Yep, he's a happy kid!
We'll be off shortly, down to play Zone 3 - think paint ball but with laser guns, mega fun minus the pain - maybe a game of tenpin and fish and chips for lunch.  Tonight Kookaburra has requested a Chocolate sponge cake with strawberry mousse filling, homemade pizza's and his grandparents to celebrate.

Happy Eleventh birthday Buddy.  We love you so much and are so excited to share this special day with you.

Seven

Nearing ten thirty am on a beautiful Sunday morning seven years ago, my husband and I were alone together in the birthing rooms at our local hospital.  The nurse had left us some minutes before when I felt that last great urge to push.  In the most graceful of positions (as if us girls could really begin to care at this late stage of birthing) bent over the bed gripping for dear life with Mr E rubbing my poor back I knew little Kangaroo was coming. Mr E was there to catch his little boy in the next moment.  Virtually bungy jumping into the world via the umbilical cord, our new baby boy announced his arrival with a bellow and an element of drama.

Our beautiful baby boy.
Cheeky and charismatic, determined and charming.
Seven years have flown by and I can barely believe it is yet again time to celebrate our boy.

I think it especially on their birthdays that I am the most grateful for being able to teach my own at home.  Rarely are we apart and I treasure so much the inclusiveness of each others lives.

This is our boy this year.

A lover of history and drama.
With a major sweet tooth!
Who completely adores his big brother :).
Lover of art.

With his little nose always buried in a book - even right at this very moment as I type.
Animal hassler - he does love animals and pets but he wants them so badly to  be with him that he'll chase them down ,and tell you they wanted him!
Play connoisseur.

 Sweet and boisterous little Kangaroo.
 Emotional and pouty.
Whisperer of sweetness in Mummys ear.
We love you so much.
Happy Seventh Birthday Little Sweetheart!
